Geranium Oil

Geranium essential oil which is also known as Pelargonium is extracted from the plant Pelargonium odorantissimum, of the Geraniaceae family. It is a strong smelling oil with a floral aroma and a hint of mint when extracted from the Odorantissimum where as the Graveolens oil has a rosier aroma. The leaves and stalks are used for extraction, and the oil is obtained through steam distillation. The essential oil is composed of various chemical constituents and includes a-pinene, myrcene, limonene, menthone, linalool, geranyl acetate, citronellol, geraniol and geranyl butyrate. This fresh essential oil has a firm place in aromatherapy, as it helps to balance the mind and emotions, while stimulating the adrenal cortex and balancing the hormonal system and stimulating the lymphatic system. On the other hand, it balances the production of sebum in the skin, while keeping it supple and helping with the healing of wounds.

Ylang-Ylang Oil

Ylang-ylang essential oil is steam distilled from the flower of the Ylang-ylang tree (Cananga odorata ). The fragrance is sweet, jasmine like and powerful and does not become apparent in the flowers until 2-3 weeks after they have first opened. It appears in about 40% of all quality perfumes. The main chemical components are linalool, geranyl acetate, caryophyllene, p-cresyl methyl ether, methyl benzoate, benzyl acetate, benzyl benzoate and other sesquiterpenes.This extremely fragrant essential oil has a calming effect on the mind and body and is used in cases of frigidity and impotence. It has a wonderfully balancing and stimulating effect on the skin, to correct sebum production and is also used to stimulate hair growth.

Bois de Rose Oil

Bois de rose (Aniba rosaeodora) literally 'wood of rose' is given the French name to prevent confusion with actual rosewood. The tree (Aniba rosaeodora) from which the essential oil is distilled originates from tropical Africa and Brazil. The oil is distilled from the bark of the tree, but to obtain it, the whole tree is felled. The smell of bois de rose is valued above all. It is woody, flowery, and quite rose-like. The principal constituent: Between 70 and 80 per cent of the oil is linalool and this has been much valued by perfumers for many decades. Bois de rose can also be used as an antidepressant. Bois de rose has some marvelous uses such as it can be used to treat arthritis, colds, coughs, depression, dry skin, dull skin, emotional imbalance, fever, flu, frigidity, headache, oily skin, rheumatism, scars, sensitive skin and stress.

Chamomile Oil

Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) a small low growing herb. chamomile oils are extracted from the flowers by steam distillation, with the Roman chamomile yielding about 1.7 % from fresh flowers and German chamomile yielding about 0.2 - 0.4 %. The main chemical components of Roman chamomile oils are a-pinene, camphene, b-pinene, sabinene, myrcene, 1,8-cineole, y-terpinene, caryophyllene, and propyl angelate and butyl angelate.The main constituents of German chamomile oil are chamazulene, a-bisabolol, bisabolol oxide A, bisabolol oxide B and bisabolone oxide A.The most important part is azulene, a fatty aromatic substance which is anti-inflammatory and promotes rapid healing of skin problems and wounds. This substance is not present in the flower, but is formed during the distillation of the oil.
